Abstract:

There is a demand for more certified behavior analysts globally to meet the needs of individuals with autism globally. With the increase in demand, how to do we face the challenges nationally and internationally related to certification requirements and supervision. Panelists will discuss challenges in recruiting and maintaining staff, cost, minority populations, and low-resource settings. Furthermore, misconceptions of applied behavior analysis and certification from current/potential consumers and possibly future behavior analysts will be mentioned. Recommendations for moving forward to meet the demand of certified behavior analysts and reduce the misconceptions of certification and applied behavior analysis in the treatment of autism will be suggested.
