Association for Behavior Analysis International

The Association for Behavior Analysis International® (ABAI) is a nonprofit membership organization with the mission to contribute to the well-being of society by developing, enhancing, and supporting the growth and vitality of the science of behavior analysis through research, education, and practice.

ABAI is committed to providing an abundance of resources and supports to programs seeking recognition and accreditation. All the supports listed below are free to request in addition to the resources and guidance provided here.

General Inquiries

ABAI provides free consultation to programs transitioning to ABAI's Tiered Model of Education (e.g., recognition and accreditation). For programs just beginning the process, we recommend scheduling an initial meeting with a representative of ABAI's Education Department.

ABAI is excited to offer access to a free recorded webinar with a supplemental resource guide.

This webinar will review:

  • Introduction to the Tiered Model of Education
  • Overview of the Accreditation and Recognition standards
  • Upcoming changes to certification eligibility requirements
  • Supervised Experiential Learning requirement
  • Thesis or Equivalent requirements

Please complete this survey to request access to the webinar!

Accreditation/Recognition Consultations

Programs can also access additional free consultation by requesting a meeting with ABAI's Education Recruitment and Development Administrator, Dr. Carol Pilgrim. Dr. Pilgrim supports programs in the following ways:

  • Assesses program qualifications and eligibility requirements.
  • Meets with program coordinators, faculty, and administration to discuss ABAI recognition and accreditation.
  • Works with program coordinators to establish goals and timelines to meet all criteria and apply.
  • Guides the program through the application process to ensure a quality submission.

To request an initial meeting with a representative from ABAI's Education Department or a consultation with Dr. Pilgrim, please email ABAI's Education Department

Syllabus Supports

Programs transitioning to the Accreditation/Recognition standards may utilize ABAI's free syllabus supports. The Accreditation Board has reviewed and published exemplary syllabi for some content areas. Additionally programs undergoing curricular changes may submit completed syllabi for review, prior to implementing it in the new curriculum. You can learn more about the details of these resources here.
