Biography
During my doctoral studies, by participating in courses taught by Professor Laércia Abreu Vasconcelos and conducting ethnographic research in Communities that Support Agriculture (CSAs), I was able to understand cultural phenomena and the social system through the theoretical and methodological foundations of behavioral science principles. I developed functional analyses that allowed me to analyze behavioral and cultural contingencies that support existing cultural practices and social problems. Contingencies and metacontingencies that promote prosocial, pro-environmental, and pro-health behaviors were investigated in CSAs, as well as macrobehaviors and macrocontingencies related to sustainability, health, and cooperation in issues involving food production and consumption. It was possible to develop guidelines for implementing interventions aimed at establishing sustainable cultural practices in agriculture and food consumption through applied and interdisciplinary research. The disciplines of Behavioral Systems Analysis, Experimental Behavior Analysis, and Topics in Behavior Analysis, with an emphasis on cultural analysis and verbal behavior, provided the theoretical framework for acting as a cultural-behavioral scientist, contributing to the solution of social, economic, and environmental problems.
